Legendary architect Gert Wingardh was handed the mission on transforming a old barn to a lovely vacation house for a family. In the work with this project he got free hands on creating a incredible little cabin deep in the woods in the southern part of Sweden. A small oasis were focus lied on creating a small cabin which surrounded the heart of it, the sauna, as a tribute to the Swedish sauna culture. Although the Swedish tradition is not quite as strong as our neighbors in Finland it's still a tradition that has lived on for generations.
The whole building is shaped with precision and a truly amazing construction and the material, oak and limestone, gives the place a nice warm feeling. The tradition says that after spending sometime in the sauna, it's time for a swim. In this case Wingardhs installed a pool right outside to cool right off. The images of this cabin makes us want to spend pretty much every weekend at this place this fall.
