19-year-old John Boultbee Brooks bought a velocipede with a wooden saddle hard as a rock. Luckily, his father was a manufacturer of horse saddles, so young Brooks used his father's workshop to produce a comforable leather saddle for his bike. The year was 1866, and Brooks was born. At first, the Birmingham-based company focused on leather strapping for horse harnesses and general leather goods, but soon enough, cycle accessories became the number-one priority. Today, Brooks is the Rolls Royce of bike saddles and leather bags. All models are made from the finest quality leather and designed to meet the needs of the demanding cyclist.
